The F6F Hellcat is a large carrier-borne fighter mounting a 2000hp engine that was developed by Grumman as the successor to the Wildcat and to combat the Zero fighter used by the Japanese Imperial Navy. After its first appearance in August 1943 in the air attack on Marcus Island, the Hellcat became the mainstay of the US Navy’s combat fighter inventory and was responsible for the defeat of the Japanese Navy in the air during the battle for the Mariana Islands in June 1944 and the Battle of Leyte Gulf in October of the same year, thus making a great contribution to the final victory over the Japanese empire.

Hasegawa often recommends using Tamiya X and XF paints – click here to purchase!
