The DC-3, C-47, Skytrain, Dakota, Gooney Bird—it was known by many names and used by many nations. All the Allied nations used it. The Axis wished they had it. After World War II, it was used in the Berlin airlift, in Korea, during the Arab-Israeli conflicts, and in an offensive role as the AC-47 Gunship in Vietnam. Its utility and impact on the war were impossible to overstate.
