The cavalry regiments were considered the elite forces of the Confederate armies during the American Civil War. The uniforms were characterized by the yellow gallons. Individual weapons as well as the customized uniforms varied. Among the most famous cavalry commanders was James Ewell Braun (J.E.B.) Stuart, who became famous for his bravery during the First Battle of Bull Run.
