Launched in 1972, the USS Nimitz was only the second nuclear aircraft carrier ever designed by the US, but it was an incredible vessel nonetheless. With a displacement of over 100,000 tons and the capacity to carry 90 aircraft, Nimitz is an airport on the ocean. Her crew complement is over 3,000 men, and with the addition of nearly two-and-a-half thousand aircrew, the population of Nimitz is equal to some small cities. Defending the vessel is an array of radar-guided missiles and the Phalanx Gatling cannon.
