The MiG 17 is a high subsonic fighter produced in the USSR beginning in 1952. It was operated by numerous air forces in several variants. It’s an advanced development of the MiG-15 from the Korean War, with the F-5 variant using the same weapons. They first saw combat in 1958 in the Second Taiwan Strait Crisis and later proved an effective threat against more modern supersonic fighters in the Vietnam War.
