Reynard Racing Cars is a constructor company established by Adrian Reynard in 1973. They completed the F3000 machine, the Reynard 89D, in 1989. The theme of the ’89 model was aerodynamics and the improvement of the down-force was pursued through intensified wind tunnel experiments. The most advanced CAD technique was employed for the body, featuring the famous pencil nose. A carbon/Kevlar composite is also used to increase the rigidity of the body. The F3000 Championship began in Japan in 1987. The Reynard 89D participated in the 1989 series and carried off prizes in four of the eight races.
