The Tu-144 was the world’s first supersonic passenger aircraft. The maiden flight of the prototype was in December 1968, just two months before the British-French Concorde. Serial production began in 1971 and featured the NK-144A engine. In total nine Tu-144 aircraft were built up until 1977. They could transport 150 passengers up to 4150 kilometers, and the cruising speed was about 2340 km/hr. Two aircraft (SSSR-77109 and SSSR-77110) made regular passages through Moscow.
