The Model S tank is the second generation of advocate war tanks produced by Sweden after the war. It was developed in 1957 by the Bofors Company but the army was not equipped with the first production run until 1972. In order to meet modern war demands for Swedish ground forces, the Model S was refitted in the eighties and named Strv103 c. Improvements included a new laser range finder, additional fire and computer power, a new Model V-53T diesel engine, and side skirt armor.
