The ZAXIS 135US is a hydraulic excavator designed and built by Hitachi. It is primarily used for earthmoving, but also sees wide use in civil engineering, housing demolition, industrial waste disposal, road building and landscaping sites. The counterweight rear section has a small tail swing radius, making it ideally suited for work in tight spaces with limited room for rearward maneuvering. It also has minimal overhang over the vehicle track footprint throughout its swing radius, further reducing the risk of unwanted contact with worksite objects. A color LCD multi-monitor system gives improved rear visibility while also proving a real-time feed of time and fuel management information. The excavator can be remotely linked via communications satellite with Hitachi’s Global e-Service system for real-time operation, maintenance and GPS information. Wide acclaim for such features led to the ZAXIS135US winning a 2008 Good Design Award.
