Voltigeurs were meant for skirmishing in battle, and later became known as light infantry. Interestingly, since grenadiers were known as tall soldiers courageous in bayonet fighting, the voltigeurs were developed as a company to allow men shorter in stature to participate. Pieces are suitable for use with the Zvezda Age of Battles expandable board game.
