Serial armored car D-2 was developed in the USSR in the 1930s. Various prototypes were developed and made, and the experimental armored car was a bi-axial platform sheathed by armored sheets with two turrets mounted on the chassis. It had a self-contained reverse power plant (gasoline engine “Hercules” and gearbox D35) that allowed it to move on a railway track forward or backward. It was armed with two 76mm guns (1902) mounted in turrets and one machine gun DT (7.62mm) in each turret. On the hull sides four 7.62mm machine guns Maxim were installed. It could fight close-up for protection of strategic railway junctions and maintenance of marches. The car was equipped with antenna and portable radio transmitter and the crew consisted of 12-15 persons.
