The Airbus A321 is larger version of the A320 with an increased maximum passenger capacity of 200. The fuselage was lengthened and the thrust capacity increased with the installation of either CFM56 or V2500 engines, whose shapes and mountings are nearly identical to the engine arrangements on the A320 but for the increased thrust. Other design changes included emergency hatch size and location, a higher capacity pressurization system, strengthened landing gear and larger diameter tires. The first A321 made its maiden flight in March 1993. The A321ceo (current engine option) is equipped with the CFM56 engine and a new Sharklet wing tip. It is mainly active on domestic flights.
