The Lockheed AC-130 Spectre is a tactical support version of the C-130 Hercules. The USAF uses the AC-130 for close support, air interdiction and force protection including supporting ground troops, escorting convoys, flying urban operations and covering air bases and other facilities. The AC-130H, called Spectre, was used in all the conflicts involving US Forces in the last decade and, after further upgrades, they are still used in the conflict in Afghanistan.
