The 3” gun was a main part of Russian artillery during WWI and the Civil Wars. It was fitted with shield 1906-12. After the end of the Russian civil war a number of them ended up with the Finnish army, who used them all the way until the end of WWII. The Polish acquired some during the Soviet-Polish war of 1920 and re-chambered the barrels to use 75mm French ammo. During WWII approximately 110 were taken by the Germans and used under the designation 7.62cm FK 295(r).
