The "Queen of the Sea" was to carry 1316 passengers from Southampton to New York for the White Star Line. At about thirty minutes to midnight, in the Atlantic, the British luxury liner hit an iceberg that tore a 100 meter gash in her starboard side. On April 15, when the Titanic sank around 12:10 am, 1503 of the 2206 people on board lost their lives.
