Tamiya Surprises as usual.

When the DBS was announced the exotic car modeling community was abuzz with anticipation of this kit. The first new AM car in years. A pretty one at that too.
I certainly hope to see what else Tamiya may come out with as far as the Aston Martin line is concerned (Vanquish!).
Naturally this kit builds like most all Tamiya kits in your standard shake and bake bit. A couple of things to look out for are the mold lines on the back top quarters that if not sanded or finished correctly will pop through your paint work. Take the time to block these out and save a headache later.
Otherwise mold lines are virtually nil.
The body looks spot on to my eye and captures the beauty of the DBS perfectly.
While I was getting closer to completion I noticed the headlight covers were not traditionally mounted as in years past, but rather a snap fit. Be super careful while doing this or you will wreck your paint. Once inserted they look perfect.
The kit also comes with a small fret of P.E. This carries a few of the screens used on the hood and front. The hood p.e. is very difficult and hard to understand via directions. So glue the clear piece from the bottom and drop the p.e. in from the top. I painted mine in black, but raw p.e. looks right too.
The kit also comes with self adhesive metal transfers for the DBS and engine cover.
While the kit does not have a full engine, detailed out it looks very realistic. I see no need for their to be a full engine since the engine cover covers most of the block anyway.
Lastly when inserting the chassis into place, again, take great care and make sure it is fully mounted.
Tamiya comes out with another winner. I'd gladly build another kit. I highly recommend this kit to any Aston Martin fan or exotic car fan. It fills a void in any exotic collection.
